ANNA SMILED

Anna smiled…
But it wasn't real
All the while, she refused to feel
The feelings…that come naturally…
To you and me

Anna  saw  the world, through money-colored eyes
Swore  the world refused  to sympathize
And every smile, ooh…was a silent plea

So she doused the fire…
And she deadened  the pain
While  behind the smile, tears fell like rain

Anna stole  away…
Several times a day
Anna dealt with life
In a funny kind of way
This isn't what she planned…
You wouldn't understand

And the hours passed…like hot summer days
And she saw the world, through a purple haze

Maybe it's better left  distorted?

Now Anna smiles…
Because we made her smile
So all her fans, can  pass by in single file
Now she'll be, worth more to us dead than alive

But  maybe now, she can smile for real
Maybe now, she can really feel
Maybe now, she's finally arrived?

Anna…smile.
C'mon…Anna…smile.
